NOTES FROM THE OPERATION
Amazon FBA Shipment Checklist for UK Sellers
Check product readiness, carton contents, labels and carrier handover before a UK FBA shipment, then reconcile received stock and exceptions.

An Amazon FBA shipment checklist should confirm three things before collection: the correct products are ready, the cartons match the shipment record, and someone owns the follow-up after dispatch. Treat packing as a controlled handover, with a final check against the current UK Send to Amazon workflow.
This is an operations checklist, not a replacement for product-specific packaging, labelling or transport requirements. Check those requirements again for each shipment, especially when the product or packing method changes.
Confirm product and stock readiness
Before creating the shipment, check the intended marketplace, product listing, sellable variation and quantity. Confirm eligibility and resolve relevant restrictions or compliance requests. A product ready for your own warehouse is not automatically ready for FBA.
Use Amazon UK's FBA guidance as the starting point for the official preparation process and linked Seller Central instructions. Use the requirements shown for your UK account and product; overseas tutorials may describe different programmes or rules.
Keep stock allocated to the FBA shipment separate from units still available to other channels. The overselling prevention guide explains why one shared quantity can become misleading when stock moves between fulfilment locations.
Check the units before sealing cartons
- Match each physical product to the intended listing and variation.
- Confirm the required barcode and preparation method in the current workflow.
- Inspect packaging, accessories and product condition.
- Apply any product-specific preparation and warning requirements.
- Keep different variations and pack quantities distinguishable during packing.
- Count units and record who checked them.
Amazon's UK product packaging requirements provide the detailed preparation reference. Some Seller Central help requires sign-in. Confirm current account guidance rather than relying on a remembered weight limit, barcode rule or service availability.
Scan or otherwise verify a sample against the actual product record. A readable label on the wrong colour or pack size is still a shipment error. Stop and resolve a mismatch before producing more labels.
Match carton contents to the shipment
Illustrative example: a shipment contains 120 units of a blue pouch and 80 units of a green pouch. The packer plans three blue-only cartons of 40 units and two green-only cartons of 40 units. A checker confirms the five physical cartons total 200 units and that each recorded box contains the stated variation.
If a damaged unit is removed, update the affected box and shipment information through the permitted workflow before dispatch. Do not leave the original quantity in place and assume receiving will correct it.
Complete the requested box-content information. Check final packed dimensions and weight, carton identification, destination and the selected transport arrangement. Follow the UK shipping and routing requirements and the instructions generated for the shipment. Do not reuse labels from an earlier shipment or guess a delivery address from a previous collection.
Make the dispatch handover explicit
Before the carrier collects, assign a checker to confirm:
- The shipment record and physical cartons agree.
- The final labels belong to the correct cartons and shipment.
- Packaging is secure and required labels remain readable.
- The collection details and carrier instructions are correct.
- Shipment references, tracking and dispatch evidence are retained.
Record collection as a stock movement out of the dispatch location. Treat goods travelling to Amazon as inbound stock, not automatically available FBA inventory.
Reconcile after delivery
Assign one person to monitor tracking and the shipment's receiving status. Compare the submitted quantity with the quantity received and investigate discrepancies using packing records and shipment evidence. Follow the current eligibility and timing instructions in Seller Central for any investigation; this checklist does not promise a receiving deadline.
For future replenishment, allow separately for supplier lead time, preparation, transport and receiving uncertainty. The reorder point guide provides a planning framework. Close the shipment only when the stock position and any exceptions are understood, rather than when the carrier marks the cartons delivered.
